What Are the Benefits of Spider Silk Performance Fabric? According to Kim Thompson, the founder and CEO of Kraig Laboratories, spider silk fibers possess qualities such as thinness, lightweight nature, flexibility, resilience, extraordinary strength, and strength-to-weight ratios comparable to aramid fibers (Note: para-aramid fibers are used in creating Kevlar). Additionally, recombinant spider silks are reported to offer both durability and physical properties akin to a “luxurious” handfeel and breathability. Furthermore, their renewability and biodegradability present an added advantage in terms of environmental sustainability.
